I discovered this site a couple of...Hello, fellows. I discovered this site a couple of weeks ago and have been going through the entries before making any commentary. Still, I can shed some light on your puzzlement, Mr. Burbage.

ADVENTURE COMICS # 329 (Feb., 1965) included a one-page "Know Your Legionnaires" test piece which listed the then-current roll of Legionnaires, their real names, home worlds, and powers. This is where one finds the first mention of the Legion Espionage Squad. The entry for Chameleon Boy states that he is the Espionage Squad's leader, and the entry for Invisible Kid states that he is also a member of the Squad.

Then, in the letter column of ADVENTURE COMICS # 347 (Aug., 1966) a letter from John Draper of Seattle, Washington, notes that, while mention has been made of the Legion Espionage Squad, the group has never been seen in action. Mr. Draper also wanted to know, besides the Squad's leader, Chameleon Boy, what other Legionnaires comprised the Squad.

Mort Weisinger (or, at this time, more likely it was E. Nelson Bridwell) responded:

"The others are Invisible Kid, Shrinking Violet, Saturn Girl, and Phantom Girl. We'll try and whip up a story about the group soon."

Hope this helps.Commander Bensonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08587671592417069322noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6439298599791449790.post-90433267697183067632020-06-13T09:55:17.673-04:002020-06-13T09:55:17.673-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.Commander Bensonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08587671592417069322noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6439298599791449790.post-58475221535389683142018-06-05T12:35:12.950-04:002018-06-05T12:35:12.950-04:00Really? Almost since the earliest Legion stories Chameleon Boy was said to be the head of the Espionage Squad. But I started following the Legion shortly before the failed espionage mission to Khundia, so I can understand if it needed a cooling off period.

And I'm almost ready to launch an RPG based on the espionage squad that has been percolating in the back of my mind for years ... :)Boston Mossnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6439298599791449790.post-53713081586793911682018-06-01T01:22:40.615-04:002018-06-01T01:22:40.615-04:00Jesus, I'm surprised these women can even work...Jesus, I'm surprised these women can even work together. They hate each other! I never quite understood people's fascination with the Espionage Squad as they were rarely seen as just the 4 or so of them. I have to wonder also why the Legion needed a group of spys/infiltrators. I think Levitz missed an opportunity in creating an LSV Sabotage Squad for them to battle. Imagine Micro Lad, Chameleon Chief, Mist Master and Ron-Karr against these 4.marvelboy74https://www.blogger.com/profile/13962731689660859167noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6439298599791449790.post-41405787822606378992018-05-30T21:10:05.079-04:002018-05-30T21:10:05.079-04:00Yes!
