Who's Who: Circadia Senius

Circadia Senius
by Russell & Siskoid

Real Name: Circadia Senius
Super-Power(s): None
Planet of Origin: Pax Colony
Relationship to Legion: Time Institute contact

Legion Log
Circadia Senius first met the Legion of Super-Heroes when there was a "chronal backlash" during an investigation at the Time Institute in Metropolis. Circadia had been attempting, via his chronal recorders, to watch the actual origin of the Universe. This investigation brought the Time Institute, the Legion, and Earthgov in conflict with the Guardians of the Universe and their agents, the Green Lantern Corps. This incident led to Earth banning the Green Lanterns.

Circadia became colleagues and then friends with the Legion's resident genius Brainiac 5, and they would spend many hours debating time travel and time theories. It was through support of the Time Institute that the Legion was able to develop their time-traveling Time Bubbles.

After Rond Vidar showed his prowess with a similar time-traveling device, he was introduced to Circadia, and they became friends and then colleagues. When Rond was thought to have been poisoned by his father, Universo, Circadia mourned him.

The Legion depended on Circadia to assist them whenever their was a time concern, such as when Cosmic Boy and Night Girl discovered the Time Trapper's "Pocket Universe." The Time Trapper actually destroyed the Time Institute in an effort to destroy its time beacon. Working with the Legion, Circadia and his staff had it rebuilt. After the Time Trapper's "Pocket Universe" reality was verified, Circadia and his staff decided to review and revise all of their chronal histories.

Although Circadia, as a native of the Pax Colony, naturally prefers background investigation instead of the spotlight of leadership, he has served well as the Time Institute director for several years. His natural inclination to "click" while he talks does little to lessen his embarrassment at public speaking.

After the so-called Five-Year Gap, Circadia Senius was among the scientists trying to prevent the Earth from going out of its orbit following the destruction of the Moon at Dominator hands. Thought killed in the fallout at the time, he apparently went back to work at the Time Institute after the Dominion left Earth was later destroyed and, along with Rond Vidar, investigated the temporal event known as Zero Hour.

Circadia Senius does not appear during the Reboot, nor the Threeboot.

After Infinite Crisis, Circadia's original history has presumably been more or less restored, give or take the Legion's relationship with the Superman Family. He still works with the Legion, and is smitten with Legionnaire and fellow scientist Harmonia Li.

  1. Have we ever seen more of Circadia's race? Or of the tentacled horse dude's (his name escapes me now) race that runs the space port? There seem to be a lot of one-off alien appearances. A lot of Reep's transformations were 'one and done' as well. Just curious to me, is all.
