Recap: The gangster G'odd placed a mole in the L.E.G.I.O.N., and agents throughout the galaxy began to act more like villains than heroes, placing the team's reputation in jeopardy. Phase attempted to deal with the blowback from member planets with no help from Vril Dox, who was focused on his romance with Ig'nea, one of the new recruits. Amid the chaos, Dox announced that he was disbanding the L.E.G.I.O.N. While the new recruits vowed to form their own organization to carry on the spirit of L.E.G.I.O.N., several of the core members came under attack while returning to base. Garv, Stealth, Telepath, and Captain Comet appeared near defeat but Comet let loose a burst of energy that knocked both them and their attackers unconscious. When they awoke, Telepath scanned one of their attackers and learned that G'odd was responsible. Meanwhile, Lady Quark, Bek, Marij'n, and Phase fended off an attack on Cairn, while Lobo recovered from his own defeat at the hands of the assassin Ice Man. Meanwhile, Dox and Ig'nea travelled to meet her father, who turned out to be the villain G'odd.

A Tale of Two Legions

Join us as two of the Legion of Super-Bloggers rant about what makes a good comic-book in general and a good Legion comic in particular.

We look at two very recent examples of TWO new Legion of Super-Heroes stories.

One is of course, LSH (volume 8) #5, which had been released during the same week that retail stores were ordered closed. The other was From Beyond The Unknown #1 (direct market version).

Although both series are called "Legion of Super-Heroes," it is no Sophie's Choice to tell you which one we would save in a fire.

Phase attempted to deal with the blowback from member planets with no help from Vril Dox, who was focused on his burgeoning relationship with Ig'nea, one of the new recruits. Lobo was on a mission attacking G'odd's smugglers and fell into a trap set by the assassin Ice Man, who leaves Lobo buried in a grave. Despite the team's troubles, everyone was still shocked when Dox gathered them to announce that he was disbanding the L.E.G.I.O.N. The new recruits vowed to form their own organization to carry on the spirit of L.E.G.I.O.N. while several of the core members came under attack while returning to base. Garv, Stealth, Telepath, and Captain Comet appeared to fall in defeat. On Cairn, Phase tried to deal with the fallout of Dox's decision, while Garryn Bek surprisingly stepped up and held the organization together amid the fallout. Lady Quark expressed her desire to leave since Dox was no longer a potential mate, but Phase and Bek convinced her to stay and fight for the team. Meanwhile, Dox and Ig'nea travelled to meet her father, who turned out to be the villain G'odd. 

Everything You Wanted To Know About the Legion....!

I'VE been collecting publications related to the LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES ever since I bought (with the help of my dad) Adventure Comics #247 off the stands.

Over the decades, that has extended to literally EVERYTHING ... comics which have Legion cameos, those with Legion-originated worlds (Durla, Daxam, Rimbor, etc), Legion-originated alien races (Khunds, Dominators, Controllers, etc), Legion artifacts (flight rings, time bubbles, etc), and even those which merely mention the group or its members. I have every magazine and coffee table book which contain Legion articles, as well as comics featuring Legion homages. 

There have been many so-called comprehensive lists produced over the years and I have seen them all. NONE of them list everything.

So I began this project, to provide pictorial guides to every Legion-related item known (at least to me, anyway). It originally began on my Facebook site Bits of Legionnaire Business, but it's now grown so much that it deserves a website of its own.

Here we have complete listings of every Legion-related issue and pictorial evidence of why it's connected to our favorite group. But there's much, much more!

There are complete guides to every bit of official  Legion-related merchandise, poster, figure, apparel, style guide, stationery and anything else you can think of. The section on multimedia includes Legion appearances ion TV shows, in the movies, on DVD, in video games and in audio recordings.

I invite all fans to enjoy this site. It took many, many hours to create and I'm sure will provide many, many hours of interest as you pore through its contents. Hopefully, you will delight at finding one or more new collectibles you had never known existed.

Recently I’ve done a series called “Twice Told Tales” looking at recycled stories which, in their second incarnations, introduced the Legionnaires Mon-El and Star Boy.  But did you know that another Legionnaire had a precursor character?  None other than Kara Zor-El; that’s right, Supergirl herself.  The character of Kara Zor-El debuted in Action Comics #252 in the story “The Supergirl of Krypton” published in May 1959. However, nearly a year earlier a story was published about another “Supergirl.” It was called “The Girl of Steel” and was an attempt by DC management to see if a female super character would, err, fly.
As you can see, there’s a strong resemblance between her and her successor.

So where did this Supergirl come from?  Well, it begins, as so many stories do, with Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen.

LEGION TOYS: Happy Meal Toys (Legion of Super-Heroes)

Released in 2007, McDonald’s created a series of Happy Meal Toys for the Legion of Super-Heroes animated series. There are eight figures in total. Superman (who could not be called Superboy due to legal shenanigans), Brainiac 5, Bouncing Boy, Lightning Lad and Timber Wolf make up the Legionaries. Representing the villains of the show are Tharok, Validus and Mano of the Fatal Five.
