Legion Log
Command Kid came to the attention of the Legion after they saw him foiling a bank robbery with his illusion-casting powers. He seemed to not know of the Legion, and when told about their mission to uphold the law and bring justice to the United Planets, he gladly agreed to join.
However, immediately after he became a Legionnaire, Command Kid showed his true colors. He was actually thoughtless and rude. In one case, he refused to accept a medal from the Science Police for the Legion's gallant work.
Command Kid had a huge ego, and as he took on more and more responsibilities, he made more and more snide comments to his fellow Legionnaires. He let it be known to his team mates that he was a genius scientist who could improve each of the Legionnaires' abilities through a simple medical procedure, and he eagerly suggested that all of them needed increased powers.
In reality, Command Kid was teenager Jeem Rehtu of the planet Pretzor. When his spacecraft crash-landed on isolated Taboo Island he found himself possessed by one of the demons of that island. The demon then used Jeem's body as Command Kid to travel to Earth to try to acquire more super-powered bodies for its fellow demons to possess.
Command Kid's plot was foiled by the timely return of Saturn Girl and Element Lad, who were able to exorcise the demon from the teen's body via its only weakness, gold. Phantom Girl followed the demon and made sure it returned to Taboo Island, where it was never heard from again. Command Kid, now powerless, was quietly expunged from the Legion's roll. He, too, was never heard from again, in any continuity.
Command Kid wore green leggings and black boots. He did not show any skin as he does in the uniform shown above.
After Infinite Crisis, Command Kid's original history has presumably been more or less restored.

That dynamic cover never ceases to amaze me.
ReplyDeleteA Legionnaire with mystically-imparted illusion powers, mostly well meaning but with something of an occasional attitude problem.
ReplyDeleteSomething familiar about that.
I think it might have been cool to have him show up again, only as a powerless civilian determined to make amends for what the body-occupying demon did.
