I'm continuing my look at Legion issues I have been lucky enough to get autographed.

I have a soft spot in my heart for the Threeboot Legion, specifically the Mark Waid/Barry Kitson section of that run. I liked it enough to review the run here on the site, including the ending bit by Jim Shooter and Francis Manapul.

Whether it was the youthful energy of this counterculture team, the amazing art by Barry Kitson, or the later inclusion of Supergirl, I think I like this version of the team more than most.

They LOOK like the Reboot Legion, but they were only really the prototype. It's the SW6 Legion, temporal clones who showed up in the Five Years Later era and got their own book, Legionnaires! Threeboot: Supergirl and the Legion #23 Variant Cover

I'm taking a week off from reviews as I enjoy a brief family vacation.

Had I not be on vacation, this would be the week I would review Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes #23.

That issue had a superb variant cover by Adam Hughes showing Supergirl riding a meteor.

It is just a gorgeous cover, one of my favorite Supergirl covers of this time period. I am not a fan of the belly shirt costume but this is beautiful. But there is more to the story.

Hot and Cool Cover: Legionnaires #7

Today's "Hot" post comes courtesy of cheesecake artist extraordinaire Adam Hughes. We've shown off his work before, so we know his figures are pretty and sexy, without being trashy. FACT. Legionnaires #7's cover is a perfect, summery example, catering to several fantasies.

We have a beefcake Sun Boy FOR ONCE not being douchy and actually in a very sweet pose with one of the oldest romantic fantasies of all time, a mermaid. And all around the couple, all of Triad/Triplicate Girl, the human threesome, or if you like, the three personality types you might find attractive - confident and clever, shy and submissive, and passionate spitfire. In three bathing suit styles.

And in no way does the image seem lascivious or tawdry. Mr. Hughes, we salute your art's hotness!

Hot: Glorith of Baaldur

Whether you like the removal of Superboy from Legion history or not, you can't deny we benefited from this paradoxical decision with the rise of Glorith of Baaldur! A minor character in pre-Crisis, Glorith made one solitary appearance as a henchwoman of the Time Trapper. With history being re-written, and re-written again, Glorith ascended to power. And boy I'm happy she did!

Legion Archive 4: Adam Hughes

Continuing our series on the art of The Legion of Super-Heroes Archives. The fourth volume boasts a beautiful cover by Adam Hughes. It's a wonderful illustration, but is dramatic for not having all of its characters on the same dimensional plane. If that Cosmic Boy had been Colossal Boy it would have made more sense artistically. It's fine as it is, just a little bit different.

Events:
This edition we are firmly in the fourth year of the Legion. Brainiac 5 is elected leader in Adventure #337. The Heroes of Lallor return, and we get some rare angst in DC Silver Age comics as Beast Boy faces discrimination and hatred for having a non-attractive power. We see the creation of the Legion's flight rings, as well as the Bizarro Legion (me so happy!). We have two stories of spies trying to infiltrate the Legion, as well as a time travel story involving Earth and Krypton. And Lightning Lad loses his arm to the Moby Dick of Space, then later falls under the dastardly control of Starfinger.

For the first time ever, there are no membership changes during the year.

Hot: Dream Girl or Cover Girl?

Dream Girl. The name kinda says it all, doesn't it? She's been identified by Who's Who as the most alluring Legionnaire. Certainly for some, she's the hottest Legionnaire. For others, she's over-sexualized. Many artists certainly tried to do justice to her codename. So what do you think? Hottest Legionnaire or over-rated?
