Legion Log
United Planets Ambassador Anton Relnic first came in contact with the Legion of Super-Heroes when he was escorted to a conference with the Dominators by Sun Boy, Princess Projectra, and Timber Wolf. They were traveling incognito, and happened to be riding on the same star cruiser as notorious serial killer Tseln. Unbeknownst to Relnic at the time, the Legionnaires were able to capture the psychopath without revealing their presence.
Ambassador Relnic worked with the Legion again during the conflict called "Earthwar," where he, as representative of the United Planets, met with the Dominators in order to agree to a peace treaty. During this conflict, he was impersonated by forces that did not want to see peace break out between the two warring factions.
Ambassador Relnic had evidently met the Legion on at least one more (potentially confidential) occasion before "Earthwar," because he told Wildfire at the beginning of that mission that it was nice to see him again, even though no scene of Relnic meeting Wildfire had ever been shown.
When the Khunds requested negotiations begin for a peace treaty between them and the UP, Relnic was chosen again to represent the alliance. He went to Khund space with a group of Legionnaires in order to broker peace; however, Omen and the Prophet chose that time to invade Khundia and the peace conference was cancelled. When the danger had passed and the conference resumed, Ambassador Relnic himself cancelled it because of bad faith information he had learned on the Khunds.
When Universo took over Earth in the latter days of the 30th Century, Ambassador Relnic was mind controlled. Universo ordered him to get several of the most powerful Legionnaires off Earth. Due to the high regard in which they held Relnic, the Legionnaires naturally fell into Universo's trap.
During the failure of science in the so-called "Magic Wars," Ambassador Relnic was the highest ranked bureaucrat stationed on Weber's World. It fell to him to try to salvage as many of the UP treaties, laws, and agreements he could until technology was restored.
No personal history of Relnic mentioned in the Who's Who entry was ever confirmed in an actual story. And although the entry references Ambassador Relnic assisting in the Legion's covert invasion of Talok VIII, in the story itself only an unnamed "UP Director" was shown.
Five years later, Anton Relnic is chairman of the United Planets and though he tries to help embattled, secretly Dominator-controlled Earth, "EarthGov" refuses all his attempts. When the Dominion's treachery was revealed, he was quick to commit U.P. resources to liberating Earth. After Earth's liberation and destruction, he continues to work with its president Jacques Foccart and the Legion for the betterment of the galaxy.
Anton Relnic does not appear in the Reboot nor the Threeboot.
After Infinite Crisis, Ambassador Relnic's original history has presumably been more or less restored.
