Dr. R'Xalim

Planet of Origin: Muratem
Relationship to Legion: Villain

Legion Log
Dr. Leushk R'Xalim was one of the doctors that treated Brainiac 5 and Matter-Eater Lad while they were undergoing treatment at Medicus One for their temporary insanity. After Brainiac 5 was cured, he wrote the Board of Regents of Medicus One suggesting that Dr. R'Xalim was xenophobic and not very good at his job. (It should be pointed out that Brainiac 5 was eventually cured of his insanity by the Legion and himself, not by anyone at Medicus One.) The Board of Regents of Medicus One took Brainiac 5's letter to heart and dismissed Dr. R'Xalim.

When Brainiac 5 and Element Lad later visited Matter-Eater Lad at Medicus One, Dr. R'Xalim ambushed them and placed them in a slowly contracting force-field. His hope was that all three Legionnaires would be crushed to death. However, Element Lad was able to create a barrier of inertron around them, causing the force-field energizer powering their trap to explode. When last seen, Dr. R'Xalim was being escorted away by two Science Police officers.

There was no previous appearance of Dr. R'Xalim before his attempted murder of Brainiac 5... or was there? When Brainiac 5 was allowed to temporarily leave Medicus One to help battle against the League of Super-Assassins, he was escorted away from the island facility by a "guard" who bore something of a resemblance to Dr. R'Xalim. Given that different artists drew him, and that Brainiac 5 refers to him as little more than a "guard," perhaps this IS supposed to be Dr. R'Xalim?

Dr. R'Xalim never appears again, in any continuity.

After Infinite Crisis, Dr. R'Xalim's original history has presumably been more or less restored.

  1. Not sure I buy that first "appearance." The first guy is a big lunk with four arms and small eyes, and the second guy is a lean fellow with eight arms and big eyes.

Also, okay, what the heck is up with the ridiculous booties??

    1. RE: The Ridiculous Booties - The concrete plaza was tender on his hypersensitive feet, perhaps? Heh.

  2. I'm not saying the first guy IS the doctor. I'm just saying it's possible.

  3. The people of this species have how many arms? Text says six. I count eight.

  4. Kind of a biological implausibility but OK.
