Who's Who: Prince Evillo

Prince Evillo
by Russell & Siskoid

Real Name: Evillo
Super-Power(s): Magical bio-blasts, hypnotism
Planet of Origin: Tartarus
Relationship to Legion: Villain

Legion Log
Evillo was born and came of age on Tartarus, a sunless planet known for its mixture of sorcery and technology. Evillo used his magical bio-blasts and his hypnotic powers to control most of his enemies. If that failed, he then used his "Realm of Darkness" blast, sending his enemies to some mysterious other dimension. Evillo was thus able to take over the throne of his homeworld. He then set out to make Tartarus a haven for criminals from throughout the universe. Although Prince Evillo, as he was now calling himself, was known to the United Planets, they could not touch him due to diplomatic immunity and lack of evidence.

Prince Evillo decided to create a group of super-criminals to do his bidding. He then began to scour the universe for the worst of the worst. During this time he met and recruited the magically altered White Witch, which indirectly led him to cross paths with the Legion. Although Prince Evillo attempted to warp several members to Evil, he failed. The Legion was able to capture him and his minions and sent them all to prison.

After his release from prison, Evillo resumed his life as a planetary ruler and eventually joined the United Plants as a respected member. After the so-called Five-Year Gap, his twin daughters, Stilletta and Styx, became infatuated with the Legion of Super-Heroes, Polar Boy in particular. As a result, he abducted Polar Boy, Matter-Eater Lad, and Calorie Queen. This turned out be a bad decision as Matter-Eater Lad unraveled the "Realm of Darkness" and freed everyone who had been exiled there, including Evillo's first eleven wives. The Legionnaires escaped Tartarus, leaving his world in turmoil. His attempt at revenge using Universo's hypno-stone would ultimately fail.

Prince Evillo appears in neither the Reboot, nor the Threeboot.

After Infinite Crisis, Evillo's original history has presumably been more or less restored. During the Final Crisis, Mordru calls upon those that died by pain and torture by his hand, and Evillo is among their number; his reanimated skeleton arises and is promptly destroyed by the Legion. The circumstances of his death are unknown.

Prince Evillo appears in the Powerless episode "Wayne Dream Team", somehow in present day, appearing as a recovering supervillain who, as part of his sentence, is forced to appear in a 6-hour anti-bullying video. He is played by David St. James.

  1. Dr. Evillo was pretty lame even in the 1960's !

  2. His appearance on "Powerless" was one of the few honest laughs to come out of that pathetic excuse for a superhero sitcom. "Hell0, I'm Prince Evillo. (Sigh), Yes I know, it's the name..."
