Legion Log
On Talok VIII, the religious order known as the Monks of Maakas spent a millennium searching for the reincarnation of their race's "shared memories." Lady Memory was found as a young girl to be this reincarnation. She then spent the rest of her childhood and young adult life training to control and master the memories of her planet. Lady Memory could reference any incident that had happened on Talok VIII, and perhaps anywhere in the universe. She could also force people to recall their lives with just a look/touch.

As the High Priestess of Maakas, Lady Memory was the spiritual as well as the military leader of the mountain people of Talok VIII. They wished to overthrow the "civilized" people of Talok VIII in order to regain their lost social and political powers. Lady Memory supported this cause, as she blamed the city people in general and the Mallors in particular for the many deaths of her ancestors.

After both of the so-called "Shadow Warriors" of Talok VIII (Shadow Lass and her cousin, Shadow Kid) were off-planet, Lady Memory saw her chance. She led a rebellion against the established government that was co-opted by the Fatal Five after they suddenly appeared on her home-world.  Although it was not explicitly shown in the stories, during the time the Fatal Five ruled her planet, Lady Memory apparently met and befriended the Persuader.

Several years later, Lady Memory finally felt that she had a large enough force to attack the cities again. She called the Persuader and promised him power and/or riches if he were to help her cause, and together they stormed the cities. This led to the intervention of Shadow Kid, and then of Shadow Lass, and then of the Legion, who eventually quelled the attacks.

Lady Memory gladly faced off against Shadow Lass for the right to be Talok VIII's true champion. Although Lady Memory used her memory-recall power to overwhelm Mon-El, Shadow Lass was immune to it; she knocked Lady Memory out with just one punch.

After the United Planets disbanded the Legion, Grev gave up his role as Shadow Kid and became the champion of his home world. At some time later to unite their two people, the City People and the Hill People, he and Lady Memory were wed. Shadow Lass and Mon-El help them stop the advancement of the Khunds, allowing Talok VIII to remain a free world.

Lady Memory does not appear in the Reboot nor the Threeboot, and may in fact not exist in those versions of continuity.

After Infinite Crisis, Lady Memory's original history has presumably been more or less restored.

  1. The art was fanTAStic on those TotLoSH stories. And it's always interesting to see how a writer handles the defeat of a character with Mon-El's power set.

  2. Love that Terry Shoemaker art. Such a disappointment he never hit it big.
