Sden was a student of sorcery with delusions of grandeur. He plotted to take over the galaxy by defeating Mordru and becoming the most powerful sorcerer in the universe. He believed that if he could obtain the Crystal of Catastrophe, it would make him unbeatable when added to his own formidable magical abilities.

Sden therefore travelled to Remor, where the Crystal had been buried within a mystical container. He attempted to find and retrieve the Crystal himself, but was thwarted by his fear of fire. He then tricked visiting Legionnaires into retrieving the Crystal for him.

However, the Legionnaires had not been as trusting as he had supposed them to be. Element Lad had coated the Crystal with phosphorous, so as soon as Sden opened the container it burst into flames. Due to his fear of fire, Sun Boy and the other Legionnaires were then able to capture Sden and have him carted off to Takron-Galtos.

Sden never reappeared, in any continuity.

After Infinite Crisis, Sden's original history has presumably been more or less restored.
