Who's Who: Tusker

by Russell & Siskoid

Real Name: Horace Lafeaugh

Planet of Origin: Earth
Relationship to Legion: Would-be Ally, now Adversary

Legion Log
Tusker was a Legion Applicant who had the misfortune of trying out for the team at the time that Dynamo Boy had taken over the group and was busy trying to convert it into a group of evil-doers. When Tusker nervously over-expanded his teeth, Dynamo Boy laughed at him. It was this rejection that convinced Tusker to switch sides, and become a super-villain.

Tusker eventually met and became good friends with Eyeful Ethel, another Legion Reject. Together they managed to win an interview with Ron-Karr of the Legion of Super-Villains, who tasked them with "showing what they could do" in order to win LSV membership. Tusker and Eyeful Ethel then attempted to disrupt the computer systems on Bismoll. However, they ran afoul of both Pulsar Stargrave and Matter-Eater Lad. Stargrave blasted Tusker, temporarily disintegrating his tusks. They were not given LSV membership.

Tusker appeared in neither the Reboot nor the Threeboot.

After Infinite Crisis, Tusker's original history has presumably been more or less restored. Over time, his powers evolved so he no longer had just unbreakable tusks, but an unbreakable skeleton and enhanced durability. He mutates into a large, gray-skinned, monstrous creature and joined the xenophobic superhero group called the Justice League of Earth. The Legion defeated the team with the help of Superman, and they were sent to the prison planet: Takron-Galtos.

When Superboy-Prime returned, he freed the inmates of Takron-Galtos and formed a new Legion of Super-Villains, which included the Fatal Five and the Justice League of Earth. Tusker had finally made the cut. They attacked the United Planets Government Complex in Metropolis to kill the President of Earth "for crimes against humanity", but were stopped by Lightning Lad. He remains with the team after these events.

  1. Rejected for the Hero Legion by a villain, he ends up becoming a villain. Gosh, what irony.
