Who's Who: Queen Azura

Queen Azura
by Russell & Siskoid

Real Name: Heraldia Azura
Super-Power(s): Hypnosis
Planet of Origin: Femnaz
Relationship to Legion: Misguided activist

Legion Log
Femnaz is a planet inhabited by strong, outgoing women and mild-mannered men. When Queen Azura got so fed up by the slow-to-act nature of the men, she ordered them banished to another world.

At about that time, six female Legionnaires visited Femnaz during a good will tour to try to mediate the crisis. Queen Azura took the opportunity to use the Glow Jewel to give them each a post-hypnotic suggestion to destroy the male Legionnaires in order to take over the Legion of Super-Heroes for themselves.

Following Queen Azura's orders, thirteen of the boys were incapacitated by the girls. However, after Femnaz' moon was damaged during one of Azura's ceremonial rockets, just as the men had feared, Femnaz was rescued by Mon-El and Ultra Boy. Queen Azura and her advisors realized that men were important to keep around. Queen Azura confessed to what she had done, and freed the six super-heroines from her control.

Azura never reappeared, in any continuity, including the Reboot and Threeboot.

After Infinite Crisis, Azura's original history has presumably been more or less restored.

  1. "Femnaz"? Really? Did Rush Limbaugh write this story? (Seriously, though, that is one unfortunate name.)

    1. Right? It's basically the precursor of "Feminazi"

    2. Wonder if Limbaugh read this story as a youngster.
