Zera Vultan was the daughter and assistant to Metropolis University 's Professor Bothar Vultan, the man responsible for saving the life of student Drake Burroughs when he was the victim of an anti-matter experiment. Professor Vultan helped Burroughs (now calling himself Erg-1, but eventually settling on the name Wildfire) adjust to his new existence as sentient energy.

Unknown to Wildfire, however, the Energy Release suit that Professor Vultan had on hand to save Wildfire's life was intended to help Professor Vultan himself survive a fatal disease. While the Vultans were helping Wildfire learn how to master the ERG suit, Zera was secretly siphoning off some of his energy to help treat her father. But Wildfire was unaware of his mentor's physical condition, so when he felt that he had mastered the ERG suit, he left. Soon after, Professor Vultan died.

Zera Vultan held Wildfire responsible for the death of her father. When Wildfire returned to her several years later, she attempted to siphon of his "life force" and kill him. Wildfire apologized for his part in the death of Professor Vultan, and was able to convince Zera that her father would not want her to become a murderer. Zera freed Wildfire, and ordered him to never return to her.

Zera Vultan never reappeared again, in any continuity.

After Infinite Crisis, Zera Vultan's original history has presumably been more or less restored.
