Who's Who: LSV Magno Lad

Magno Lad
by Russell & Siskoid

Real Name: Kort Grezz
Super-Power(s): Magnetic control
Planet of Origin: Braal
Relationship to Legion: Villain

Legion Log
Magno Lad first came in contact with the Legion when he applied to take Cosmic Boy's place as the Legionnaire from Braal. Due to the Legion's policy on unique abilities, however, Magno Lad was summarily rejected. He banded together with five other like-minded would-be Legionnaires and challenged their six counterparts to a fight, winner(s) to be Legionnaire(s). Because the six "Super Rejects" had stronger control of their natural abilities, the six Legionnaires relied on skill and teamwork to defeat them.

Magno Lad did not take his defeat at the hands of Cosmic Boy and his teammates well. Rather than returning to Braal  or trying to find another positive outlet for his abilities, he joined up with the Legion of Super-Villains. Whether they found him, or he sought them out, has never been revealed.

Magno Lad seemed to enjoy fighting the Legion of Super-Heroes during the so-called "War of the Legions." When the LSV was still in the process of relocating the entire planet of Orando, he was one of the LSV members who was sent on missions to acquire the materials needed. Although he successfully destroyed Wildfire's containment suit, he never came close to actually murdering any Legionnaire. He was one of the unconscious LSV members who were arrested by the Science Police as soon as they returned to "our" dimension.

Although Magno Lad would have been one of the inmates on the prison planet Takron-Galtos when it was threatened by the anti-matter wave during the Crisis, he was never actually shown. Likewise, he was probably one of the inmates who staged a mutiny on the way to the new prison planet Labyrinth, but was not specifically shown.

For the Reboot's Magno, actually the heroic Dyrk Magz, see that Who's Who entry. While Magno would reappear post-Flashpoint, Magno Lad himself would appear neither in the Reboot nor the Threeboot.

After Infinite Crisis, Magno Lad's original history has presumably been more or less restored. He is shown to be a member of Superboy-Prime's Legion of Super-Villains during the so-called Final Crisis.
