Who's Who: LSV Sun Emperor

Sun Emperor
by Russell & Siskoid

Real Name: Nigal Douglous
Super-Power(s): Heat and flame projection
Planet of Origin: Earth
Relationship to Legion: Villain

Legion Log

Sun Emperor first appeared as a member of the Legion of Super-Villains when they plotted to murder a diplomat while he was making a very public appearance with the Legion of Super-Heroes. Sun Emperor was the leader of the LSV at this time. After a bomb that the LSV had planted was supposed to murder Dr. Larx Kenrik and several Legionnaires, the LSV was going to attack and wipe out the demoralized heroes. The Legion learned of the LSV's plan, however, and stopped them.

When the Legion of Super-Villains re-formed in order to take over Orando for their own ends, Sun Emperor was shown to be a leader of the group, along with Lightning Lord, but the actual leader was now Nemesis Kid.

At this time, Sun Emperor changed his uniform to no longer  resemble Sun Boy's and let his hair grow long. He also began to keep an ambient glow about him. And most importantly, he began to show sociopathic tendencies. On a mission to investigate whether Orando was worth invading, he burned down an entire village. When the LSV began their take-over of the planet, he callously murdered a woman who had been ordered to serve the LSV their meals.

Sun Emperor put up a strong fight in the so-called "war of the Legions", but was eventually captured after escaping back to our universe.

Sun Emperor's profile as related in this Who's Who entry was never established in any actual story.

Sun Emperor made his publishing debut in the pages of Jimmy Olsen #63 as a member of the Adult Legion of Super-Villains. That is his true "first appearance."

Sun Emperor does not appear in either the Reboot, nor the Threeboot.

After Infinite Crisis, Sun Emperor's original history has presumably been more or less restored. He is a member of Superboy-Prime's Legion of Super-Villains during the so-called Final Crisis, but not of Saturn Queen's subsequent line-up. Indeed, bristling at having been replaced by the similarly-powered Kodama, he hopes to get back into the Queen's good graces by killing Timber Wold in Kyoto. He fails.

  1. "Here's a great idea. I hook up with someone who is clearly unhinged. Then I give him the ability to incinerate people in seconds. I am so smart! S M R T!"

  2. Kinda curious how Shadow Lass's powers seem a match for Sun Emp's.
