When Aplynn Jeryl was a youth, she was part of a group of teens who used the black market to smuggle technological items to Arctoraan, a developing worlds. As she got older, Jeryl matured out of the smuggling business and worked to improve her planet by joining the diplomatic corps. Eventually, she became a United Planets Ambassador.

It was as the United Planets Ambassador from Arctoraan that Jeryl came in contact with Chameleon Boy. A former Science Police technical officer had learned of her "wayward youth" and threatened to expose her past if she did not provide him with a rare Arctoran jewel. Chameleon Boy successfully apprehended the blackmailer and destroyed his databank. Aplynn Jeryl was able to resume her post, her reputation intact.

By the time the United Planets government was resettled on New Earth, more than five years after the Magic Wars, Jeryl was vice-chairperson of the U.P.F.

Jeryl appears in neither the Reboot nor the Threeboot.

After Infinite Crisis, Jeryl's original history has presumably been more or less restored.
