Legion Log
Roxxas grew up on Murgador an intelligent but surly young man who left his native planet to join the armed forces. Unfit for the military life, he eventually murdered his commanding officer during a raid of the base's compu-vault. Roxxas then lived as a fugitive for several years until he joined up with a group of roaming space pirates. Due to his ego and his military experience, he eventually became their leader.
When rumors of a planet full of alchemists reached their ears, Roxxas and his band headed to Trom. Their plan was to hold the majority of transmuters hostage in exchange for the cooperation of a few. However, faced with the Tromians' unswerving refusal to cooperate with them, Roxxas and his men began to kill them, eventually savagely murdering almost all of them, earning the nickname "The Butcher". The one lone escapee was the young man who would eventually become the Legionnaire Element Lad. Roxxas, furious that he and his men had lost control, went after Element Lad in order to take advantage of his transmuting power. When they eventually met again, Element Lad attempted to commit suicide rather than help Roxxas. However, the Legion saved him and captured Roxxas.
Roxxas was imprisoned for several years at Takron-Galtos. When he managed to escape, he hid out on Trom. Although no one thought to look for him there, he began to believe that he was haunted by the ghosts of the Tromians he and his men had killed. Roxxas slowly grew insane. Eventually Element Lad and the Legion tracked him down,. When confronted, Roxxas begged Element Lad to kill him. Although tempted, Element Lad decided that letting Roxxas live was the best revenge. Roxxas then began undergoing intensive psycho-therapy.
After the so-called Five-Year Gap, Roxxas is sprung from prison by Dominator-controlled EarthGov, given advanced weaponry, and assigned with preventing the reformation of the Legion of Super-Heroes, preferably by killing them. He murdered Blok to lure the remaining Legionnaires to the memorial asteroid of Shanghalla which he would take out with a bomb. They instead gathered on Winath, so he attacked them there, critically wounding Chameleon Boy and injuring several others before being forced to flee. He was eventually tracked down by a team led by Element Lad and returned to prison. He then provided key evidence that EarthGov was run by the Dominators. So ironically, his actions brought about the very thing he was hired to prevent. A disturbed Roxxas would later collude with Mordru in the hopes that raising the dead Trommites would wipe his sins away. The spell did not represent true life, alas, but Roxxas did manage to save Jan Arrah from the zombies' clutches, which was redemption of a sort.
After the Reboot, Roxxas is the Daxamite Ambassador to the United Planets and the leader of the White Triangle, a racist, xenophobic group bent on galactic domination. He pressured the Daxamite Legionnaire Andromeda (who was raised in a White Triangle enclave) to be his spy, but she eventually turned against him, but this could not prevent the White Triangle's genocide of the Trommite people, Element Lad once again the only survivor.
In Legionnaires #54, a version of Roxxas is introduced as part of an alternate universe created by the Time Trapper, and a homage to Golden Age comics. This Roxxas is a Nazi fighting the Legion in World War II, alongside an Italian Tangleweb and a Japanese Doctor Regulus. In keeping with the limited superpowers of the setting, he has the Golden Age Superman's original powers. His origin is not explained.
Roxxas is not heard from during the Threeboot.
After Infinite Crisis, Roxxas' original history has presumably been more or less restored, but he has not reappeared.
Defining Villainous Moment:
Important Roxxas Stories:
Adventure Comics #307
Legion of Super-Heroes (v4) #9
The Dominators turn on Roxxas after his failure to kill the rest of the Legion
Roxxas attacks the Legion on Winath
I actually liked the Daximite version of Roxxas and the White Triangle storyline better than the original space biker pirates concept !
ReplyDeleteIf DC goes back to the original please make Roxxas the leader of a Son's of Anarchy type group and include 31st century Lobo !
