Who's Who: Organus

Organus
by Russell & Siskoid

Real Name: Organus
Super-Power(s): Energy parasite, limited hypnotic or telepathic control
Planet of Origin: Unknown
Relationship to Legion: Adversary

Legion Log
Where Organus originally came from was never revealed. He made his debut on Medicus-One as a fully formed sentient parasitic leech-creature that grew to gigantic proportions after "feeding" off the staff of the hospital space station.

Organus is able to ensnare his victims by using a type of hypnotic command on them not to escape. When he arrived at Medicus-One, he made an off-hand comment about "his slaves," which implies that he had mental control of the organ thieves who brought him there.

If Organus' victim has any super-power or abilities, Organus is able to absorb those as well. Although it was never made explicitly clear, the assumption was that any absorbed super-powers would fade when the victim's life energies did.

Organus was defeated when he tried to absorb Blok's life energy. Because Blok was not a carbon-based life-form, Organus was stymied. Forced to expel all of his energies, he passed out.

Organus was last seen being transferred from Takron-Galtos to the new prison planet Labyrinth.

Organus was never seen again, nor did he appear in the Reboot or Threeboot.

After Infinite Crisis, Organus' original history has presumably been more or less restored.

  1. Loved this story when I bought it off the spinner rack (!). There are some great dynamic panels in the story (not to mention that attention-grabbing cover), and it was cool to see a new villain. Plus I love Pat Broderick's work when he is paired with a great inker.

  2. Wow. I would have loved to see Organus again after this story. What an interesting one-shot villain with potential. And, this story really solidified Blok as a true hero (finally, once and for all shrugging off his Super-Assassin shadow). Plus, Light Lass! This was the true Golden Era of the Legion.
