Who's Who: Quake Kid

Quake Kid
by Russell & Siskoid

Real Name: Shanen Dreyus
Super-Power(s): Create earthquakes
Planet of Origin: Earth
Relationship to Legion: Rejected applicant

Legion Log
Quake Kid appeared at one of the regularly-scheduled Legion try-outs. However, because he did not display sufficient control over his ability to create artificial earthquakes, he was rejected.

During his one and only appearance, Quake Kid's back story and real name were not given. In fact, there were no scenes of him even demonstrating his powers. He was seen literally getting sick from touching fellow try-out Infectious Lass; as she later reappeared with Porcupine Pete, it can be inferred that Quake Kid never got together with her after this very brief encounter.

Quake Kid did not appear in the Reboot.

In the Threeboot, one of Mekt Ranzz's Wanderers was named Kid Quake, a character with a similar name and badly controlled powers.

After Infinite Crisis, Quake Kid's original history has presumably been more or less restored.

Quake Kid made silent cameos as a Legion reject in two episodes of the Legion of Super-Heroes animated series, albeit with a very different costume.

Only Quake Kid appearances:

  1. In the Threeboot wasn't there a Legion groupie who had quake-related abilities that ended up joining Mekt's Wanderers?

  2. Amusing that his costume in the Animated series was based on 1960s/70s cereal mascot superhero "Quake". Hmm... Did we ever get a cameo by Quisp?
