Alex Ross Profile by Russell "Bilingual Boy" Burbage
If you have read any comics over the past ten years you have seen or heard of Alex Ross. He is one of the few "super" artists who seems to set his own agenda (DC? Marvel? Dynamite? somebody else?). He broke into the spotlight with Marvel Comics' Marvels, then cemented his position with DC Comics' Kingdom Come. Now he does whatever he *wants* or *likes* doing, and luckily for us, that includes the Legion of Super-Heroes.
You can find Alex at various conventions or at www.alexrossart.com
I love Alex Ross's painted cover to that Treasury-Sized issue of Back Issue Magazine. I would love to see him and Mark Waid rejoin forces and work on a classic era Legion story in a 4 issue prestige format mini-series.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I love that Back Issue cover, despite not being a huge fan of Ross' new "filter" period, where everything has a colored tint to it, usually green, as seen here.
ReplyDeleteThat WB Store print he did with the Legion flying upward is very nice. I like the fact that you can tell he used the 12" Mego Chris Reeve Superman as the model for Superboy in that piece. Same hair and everything!
