Who's Who: The FW Podcast XXV

Who's Who: The Definite Podcast of the DC Universe, Volume XXV

The Fire and Water Podcast Presents…

The twenty-fifth episode of the WHO’S WHO podcast is now available — the show that dares to tackle one of DC Comics’ greatest publications! Each episode The Irredeemable Shag (of the Super-Bloggers) and Rob Kelly cover a single issue of the legendary 1980s series, Who’s Who: The Definitive Directory of the DC Universe. This time around they chat about WHO’S WHO: Volume XXV, discussing characters such as Vandal Savage, Vixen, the Wildcats, and cover-star The Vigilante, plus a few Legion of Super-Heroes entries. They then wrap up the show with their Who’s Who Listener Feedback!

You can find the twenty-fifth episode of WHO’S WHO: THE DEFINITIVE PODCAST OF THE DC UNIVERSE on iTunes. Each episode is released as part of THE FIRE AND WATER PODCAST feed. While you’re on iTunes, please drop them a review. Alternatively, you may download the podcast by: right-clicking here, choosing “Save Target/Link As”, and selecting a location on your computer to save the file.

One of the coolest aspects of each Who’s Who issue was the amazing wrap-around cover! This time out, the art is by Kevin Maguire and Dick Giordano. Click the image to enlarge.

Below are the Legion of Super-Heroes related Who’s Who entries from this issue: Validus, The Wanderers, the White Witch, and Wildfire.

First up is Validus with art by Curt Swan and Larry Mahlstedt. Originally the most mysterious member of the great villain group The Fatal Five, Validus' story took a very strange turn in the Eighties under Paul Levitz. Click to enlarge.

Next up is The Wanderers with art by Mike Clark and Pablos Marcos. The Wanderers made their debut at the tail end of the Legion's Adventure Comics run. Nothing much was done with them before their Who's Who entry. Click to enlarge.

Next up is The White Witch, with art by Mike DeCarlo and Larry Mahlstedt. Mike DeCarlo is most famous as an inker, so it's interesting to see his pencils on this work, with inks by yet another famous Legion inker. The White Witch was Legionnaire #33, so she will get her own profile page in another few months. Click to enlarge.

Lastly, we get Wildfire with art by his creator, Dave Cockrum. Wildfire is Legionnaire #28, the last member to join before Cockrum left the series in 1974. He will have his own profile page in approximately ten weeks. Click to enlarge.

LONG LIVE THE LEGION!
